Fishing Techniques
There are thousands of sites on the web that share, either free or
for membership fees, fishing techniques for virtually every species of fish. So you don't need another one here for
well known and widely used methods of catching fish. Consequently, here I will put techniques, baits and
methods of fishing (particularly from a small boat) that are a bit unique and particular to the way I fish and what
I fish for. You may find something you like, need, or will help you more efficiently put fish in your boat. They
will be somewhat random as I think about or use them in some situation.
Slip Bobber Fishing: It amazes me how confusing this technique is to so many people, even life long
fishermen. In a nutshell, slip bobber fishing allows you to suspend and/or drift natural or artificial bait at
any depth which you control by a small knot on your line. Of all fishing techniques for fishing with live or
other natural bait, this one has been the most valuable to me over decades of using it. Yet it seems to remain a
mystery.....Read more.
I discovered Danny King's punch
bait some time in 2003 when I decided to make catfishing a way of life in my fishing experience,
instead of just a periodic interlude from bass and bluegill fishing. Little did I know that the combination of
that decision, and the discovery of Danny King's punch bait would change the way I fish for life and turn
catfish into my favorite fish on the planet.
Catching
bluegill on a flyrod had long since disappeared from my fishing life, until I rediscovered it while
practicing with my fly rod on one of my favorite bluegill lakes. I rediscovered the raw fun of the frantic pace of
bluegill fishing with a tiny fly.
Here's to your good fishing
